    Default After The Catch

My wife and I have been catch and release fishers but she has become intrigued by tales of fish fries from my childhood.
My dad and two of my uncles always caught plenty of fish at KY Lake and we always had a nice fry at the end of our trip.
My mother and an aunt would always take care of the cooking and my mother made the best hush puppies I've ever had.

I'm talking now back to the 1950's, what a time. The lakes weren't crowded and everyone was friendly.
You could pull up to the marina and fill up with gas, get a frosted malt and be on your way with a smile.

I guess I am too nostalgic but it pulls me back to KY Lake, what a beautiful place.
Sometimes we catch fish, this year we caught a bunch of panfish(no pictures, sorry), but my my wife caught a gar of about 3 feet that cut her line with his teeth about 3 feet from being landed. He cut the line with his teeth and the wife and I were happy he did.

We fished Pisgah bay and caught many pan fish but no cats, wife was dissapointed.
We also noticed that the Asian Carp activtey seemed much reduced from our previous trip 2 years ago.
We stay at Kings Creek Resort and have for several years and they treat us very well.

I haven't cleaned a fish for 30 years or better, I used to be pretty good at fliteting but now I'm not sure I know what to do.
If I remember I sliced the fish right above the gills and then sliced right above the back bone.

Wife and I have decided we want to have a few for our table if they come from favorable waters.

    We are happy fisher people.
