    Default Missy report 3/27

Went out on a recon mission today despite the wind. Hogsback area ; water was low , swift current, and looked like cholate milk. Temp was between 51* and 52* . Lake around the dam was also very muddy and low, looks like maybe 4' to 5' above winter pool. Only made a handful of casts along the river and at the lake, but no fish. I think once the water clears up and comes up the bite will be on. Looks like they need to slow the flow at the dam to get things to come together. Lower temps next week won't help either. That's all I got.

Hopefully they will start the fill up process on Thursday 4/1. That would slow the current some for river bite, I would think.

Went back out this morning up river. Water as low or lower than last week. Water temp was around 51* and still muddy. Lake level looks to be the same , USGS says it's at 715' , which is only 3' above winter pool. Needs to come up 5' to 10' to back up the river. Hopefully it won't be much longer. That is all.

Took my son to missy tonight. Arrived around 6pm just as the rain was ending. Have a place to the east of 13 i wanted to try. With river still low i wasnt sure what to expect and if the eddy would even be there as low as it is. Its also a very long walk but took the risk anyway. Glad we did as i found a nice eddy that was loaded with crappie. Cast and retrieving twisters and it was fish after fish till the rain returned and ran us out at 8. Big crappies too..i had 6 fish at 13 inches and one at 14.5 I only kept 15 fish but we threw back a ton of keeper sized fish. May hit it again tomorrow if river dont go up a bunch and its not pourin rain.

Cool ! I got into some myself on Friday and Saturday . Water was lower than I can remember in many years but had cleared up. I had 59* water temp yesterday morning, those 3 or 4 days of mid/upper 70's warmed that water up fast and got them biting . I had 51* on Monday morning. Not sure what this rain/cold front will do to the bite this week; hope to find a big school of white bass. Got into some last weekend but they were on the move. Good luck !
