    Default Favorite Lakes

Not much to talk about here in Indiana but snow, ice & below wind chill temps coming. So l saw this on a couple other state forums. So let's have fun & find out everybody's favorite lakes here in the Hoosier state for crappie fishing.

    1. Biggest crappie
    2. The best lake to limit out numbers wise.

My 2 biggest were both 2.5"s caught on a Bandit 200 in a green carp tournament ! 1 from Monroe and the other from Patoka. I did weight each 1 on good scales ! Cataract is hard to beat day in and out. Monroe is my lake and I can't seem to find keepers consistently. I need to try Salamonie and Eagle Creek both ..........

Eagle Creek, Coon, Cat, Lemon, for numbers of keeper fish. Monroe and Patoka gives you a chance on largest fish tho lacking in numbers of keepers. I don’t try and keep anything under 10” unless they swallow the hooks. This coming spring, I personally think your going to see smaller fish and maybe numbers going down slightly due to this last years extreme fishing pressure and amounts of fish harvested. Your going to have to rely more on your electronics and for those that don’t use them too much,,,learn to use your electronics as well as experiment more using fishing technics you may have not used much. Biggest fish in Indiana 1-17” and 1 17 3/4” crappie both off Monroe. 4 over 2 lbs off Lake Truman, MO.

Caught 2 that were 18 1/2" from turtle creek. My wife caught the biggest crappie I've ever seen in person, was 19 1/2 black crappie out of ky lake. Caught it on a 1/2 ounce hula grub fishing for bass.

I rarely fish for crappie anymore, so don't have a favorite numbers lake. I fish for them in the spring, and when I see a opportunity to catch them while fishing for other species.
