Is Lemon worth the drive for me?
    I think over 2 hours.
Dont say NO just to keep me off the lake. Lol.
I just hate the driving part as I get older.
I can drive 40 miles from the house and catch fish but most are 9 7/8 inch fish on a 10 inch minimum limit lake. Buddies go to west Boggs a couple times a year but bass fish and release everything. I fish for sandwiches.
    Thanks
    Chuck

I make the drive from Clarksville a couple times a year. It's worth the drive to me. When the bite is on and if you are talking about spring, get there early. If not, you'll be waiting in line to launch and walking from the hold over parking lot down the road. I wouldn't go up there expecting way better fishing than what you are used to, but there is tenderloin sandwiches and Big woods brewery up that way that makes the trip an easier decision for me.

    Thanks Locater
We didnt get much of a sauger season this year either.
They keep the lower messed up on purpose I think. Lol
I did get 2 days in and had limit on first day and 5 on the next day. Only 2 just over 14 inches. The rest were big 16-17 inch sows.

Lemon.....due to it being hammered badly 2 years especially last year with high water on other lakes and Covid 19 out of work family’s fishing it..Limits of quality fish will be down and overall size will be smaller. Fish size as been slowly decreasing as well as limits past 3-4 yrs. Granted,,if you know how to fish the lake,,I think you will just have to spend a lot more time on the lake and work harder. If you fish it on Saturday,,and late afternoon you try and takeout,,bass tourneys will cause you to spend up to a hour waiting to take out so take out before 2 pm to avoid the slam at the one launch ramp or wait till after 4 pm. Having said all of that, I will catch some nice crappie out of Lemon this spring.

West Boggs....They were catching way way small crappies before it iced over. It was brutally hammered last year. I would avoid weekends as they also have a lot of club bass tourneys besides tons of fishermen and amish. I would not even consider fishing it after Memorial Day. Last season, parking lot had a average of 75 vehicles/trailers parked, campgrounds full of boats,,houses all around it have boats/jet skis and midday and evenings changeout of boats coming and leaving constantly. Lake is only 600 acres. I never fished it last year nor will waste my time this year, but have a lot,of friends complaining that due waste their time on it.

I think Monroe is slowly on a slow comeback in sizable fish. Same for Patoka. Numbers of sizable fish over 9” can be found,,but you will have to work hard for them. There is a better chance of catching a 2 lb crappie on both lakes but it will take time spent on the water, fishing a lot, and hard,,,,the chance is there over most other bodies of water as I get more and more reports of nice size fish from both lakes past 3 yrs. if we ever get weed growth back on Patoka,,that lake will generate quality crappies in my opinion. Same for the idle zone of Monroe.

It’s 1 1/2 hours for me. I have only been once. I hear it gets busy the warmer the weather gets. I will definitely go again.

So true about lakes being hammered. I barely fish in this state anymore because of this. Years ago it was a fact that Indiana was the most boat crazy state per capita and also have very little water. Really disappointing to me that the DNR hasnt changed limits to address this

Indiana does not have a progressive DNR that truly has adopted a program towards promoting and protecting our fishing resources like the surrounding states have. Just setting a 25 fish limit on crappie establishes nothing. Give you another example, setting a size limit,,,a slot limit on KY spotted bass in our rivers of not being able to keep fish between 12-15 inches and only 2 out of the 5 fish limit over 15”. Our Spotted Bass in the rivers seldom ever reach 15” size limit. In the spring, I can fish rivers and catch a hundred spots a day in certain areas before spawn as after the spawn,,they scatter out. All are under 15”. Not that I’m into keep bass to eat, just using this as a example. Our river fish are also hammered now by the invasion of the carp by the tens of thousands and I see nothing being done as a prevention of sliver and Asian carp.

Other states do have a somewhat working relationship with COE during the spawn. I’ve never seen a relationship between our DNR and COE during flooding. It’s the primary reason we lost all the buckbrush that used to be in Monroe as well as Grass beds in Patoka and other Resivours

Speaking of Lemon, any idea if this rain made it a muddy mess? You guys got an inch more rain down there than we got here in central IN. Our lakes are in decent shape, but would like to make the trip down that way once early this year. Haven’t been in several years.

On the subject of the river limit, it covers all 3 bass species, not just spots. It started out as a smallmouth only reg, but then the COs pushed for across the board enforcement for simplicity sake, since a lot people probably don’t know a smallie from a spot from a largemouth. It ended up being what it is out of compromise.
