Lemon.....due to it being hammered badly 2 years especially last year with high water on other lakes and Covid 19 out of work family’s fishing it..Limits of quality fish will be down and overall size will be smaller. Fish size as been slowly decreasing as well as limits past 3-4 yrs. Granted,,if you know how to fish the lake,,I think you will just have to spend a lot more time on the lake and work harder. If you fish it on Saturday,,and late afternoon you try and takeout,,bass tourneys will cause you to spend up to a hour waiting to take out so take out before 2 pm to avoid the slam at the one launch ramp or wait till after 4 pm. Having said all of that, I will catch some nice crappie out of Lemon this spring.
West Boggs....They were catching way way small crappies before it iced over. It was brutally hammered last year. I would avoid weekends as they also have a lot of club bass tourneys besides tons of fishermen and amish. I would not even consider fishing it after Memorial Day. Last season, parking lot had a average of 75 vehicles/trailers parked, campgrounds full of boats,,houses all around it have boats/jet skis and midday and evenings changeout of boats coming and leaving constantly. Lake is only 600 acres. I never fished it last year nor will waste my time this year, but have a lot,of friends complaining that due waste their time on it.
I think Monroe is slowly on a slow comeback in sizable fish. Same for Patoka. Numbers of sizable fish over 9” can be found,,but you will have to work hard for them. There is a better chance of catching a 2 lb crappie on both lakes but it will take time spent on the water, fishing a lot, and hard,,,,the chance is there over most other bodies of water as I get more and more reports of nice size fish from both lakes past 3 yrs. if we ever get weed growth back on Patoka,,that lake will generate quality crappies in my opinion. Same for the idle zone of Monroe.
