    Default Few from Bluegrass FWA

Caught a bunch but only a few keepers. Fish were all caught in 7’ of water or less on natural colored jigs. Blue ice, monkey milk Bobby Garland with a pink 1/8 head. Very windy today. Fish were hit jig hard and putting up a good fight. Water was 65-64. Name: IMG_3043.jpg

Chuck I have not fished for them but I have seen them caught there before. Bluegrass lakes are very close to where I live it has some really nice crappie and bass in all the lakes

Never have caught a Muskie...saw one come out of the grass in Loon pit I believe. There are nice crappie in those pits but I tend to catch mostly 6 and 7 inch fish with an occasional 10 to 12 inch fish. I live about 45 mins away but it easy spot to fish for a few hours after work.

Is Bluegrass Pit still overrun with Kayaks? I use to fish out there a lot but it got too crowded to troll crank baits behind the boat and there was always a boat in the way. I quit fishing about 3 years ago and have not been out there since.

If weather is nice there is a ton of kayaks and boats out there.

I just noticed that you are from New Harmony, IN. How long does it take you to get to Bluegrass from there? 30 mins? 45 mins? or 1 hour?

Do you ever fish weekdays or just on weekends. Weekends are packed on a good day with nice weather.

Is the ramp full of algae or has the State kept it clean and free of algae? That always bothers me. I've seen people slip, fall and cut themselves badly on the trailer when the ramp was slippery with algae growing on it. Lynnville Park's lake ramp was like that too only worse. It was like Wet Ice on a slope and I saw many of people slip and fall and break bones on that ramp.

The North Ramp on Bluegrass Pit has grooves in the concrete that help a bit. But the parking lot at the North end is too small.

The pictures shows some good sized crappie. I'm thinking that with the introduction of Muskie and the increased fishing pressure the numerous smaller crappie are being either eaten by the Muskie or eaten by fishermen. Thus the amount of food in the lake is being eaten by few fish who are growing larger. That was the IDNR fish management plan
