Default Humminbird,s latest update with new basemaps

I think I would wait and not do the new updates Humminbird just released. Lots of issues right off the bat this week on bbc forum.

    1. Do not update the 7 helix g1 or g2 models or you will turn them into bricks and they won’t work. HB is bring out another update after the 20th supposedly. If you did update and locked it up,,contact HB as you will probably have to send it to them.

    2. For those that used HB’s basemaps,,,it’s a extremely large file and not sure of glitches showing up.

    3. This update stopped the HB users from going back to a previous software that the users could do, if they didn’t like the newest update they were installing. It seems that HB intentionally designed the latest update with the code written in it to keep us from doing this.

    4. There is a couple of glitches showing up with users that have already update.

I did the updates and in the garage and outside for gps reception have no issues, but have not had my units in the water to test out yet and will keep everybody posted. I updated a 7 DI G3N, a 9 MSI G2N, and a 10 MDI+ G3N and hope I don’t now own,,3 bricks.

I love the birds and have stayed loyal to them from the start and in my opinion their isn’t a clearer side image/down image out their but they going to have to get it together!! they are loosing so many people over stuff like this and not coming out with something that’s compatible / better than live scope! It seams like their is a glitch in just about every update they have came out with!!

These people that they have writing code for updates must not either test out what they write or are complete idiots. Just my 2 cents when I spend several thousand dollars for HB products.

I suspect there are several issues starting with manpower. With all that is going on betting they are short along with people working from home don’t always have the resources they would have if they were in the office. My wife works for a major company and is involved with keeping several thousand hand held devices scattered around the world up and running. Since she has been working from home since March I hear it all day every day. Just one hi lip after the other. All related to updates and not getting them thoroughly tested before down loading. Then it falls on her to figure out how to fix it. I suspect it’s happens throughout the industry since Garmin has had their share also. Haven’t seen much on lowrance but haven’t seen many even talking about updates. Don’t see it changing anytime soon either. Best thing is sit back and wait until you see one works for sure before just grabbing the latest and down loading it.

The heck if it is,,it’s not just HB putting out BS updates, Lowrance, Garmin, and all the manufacturers are doing the same same.
