Drove out to Raccoon today just to see what its like, not enough money to get me to even attempt fishing, every parking lot full boats parked along roads it looked like memorial day or 4th of july.. lake is still way down but they had Walker boat ramp open, bet it was fun launching there.. there were even people out on the beach.
Friend of mine was down there last weekend and they limited out in less than an hour, 3 man limit.
Roaming the banks of the Kankakee River and anywhere else fish might lurk.
Thinking of camping there this weekend

As of last weekend campground was still closed. Fished last Saturday prolly caught over a 100 between 3 of us. All went back in the lake to small for my liking. Only caught 5 keepers & threw them back. If there not 10" or over they dont go in my box. Goes back to the age old debate with me put a size limit on.

Campgrounds are open as of tomorrow. So raccoon doesn’t hold very big ones

All I can say is good luck this weekend !! You will fight boat traffic like you have never seen before this weekend. Better get out real early. It got crazy enough for me last Saturday. Some people were waiting 40-50 min to load there boats in the afternoon.

exactly why I haven't had my boat out once yet, cant get anyone who will get up at daylight to get there early and not going to fight the afternoon crowds. too big of a pain to launch 18 ft pontoon by yourself.
