How is the striper population doing there? Would think if they got enough size they may consume some of of the smaller crappie? Dunno

I would say they cater more to lake associations, the people who live on some lakes have political pull like on Maxinkuckee at Culver. Lake associations are able to influence more week kill approval and also they do illegal weed kill themselves. Lake Assoc. don't like fisherman on what they think is "their private lakes".

I've never fished Patoka but I might think a higher water level keeps boaters happier they don't like shallow water and its killed your weeds.

The structure is being put out on the main part of the lake where the Corps cleared the land before the lake was flooded. The creek arms are not part of this program as they still have plenty of trees in those areas. Those areas were not cleared before the lake filled up and had lots of trees that were flooded when the lake was first built. I remember catching Northern Pike that were suspended in the top of 20 ft tall trees in 25 ft of water. I could see the trees under the boat and the fish suspended down in the top of the trees. Water back then was a lot clearer than it is these days. This was in the first bay just South of the bay that has the fisherman's campground launch ramp. The year was 1978/79

The Corp of Engineers owns the land around Patoka Lake and there are no homes on that land. You are right, you have not fished Patoka lake. There are no Lake Associations on Patoka Lake. The Corp of Engineers controls the dam and the water levels on Patoka Lake. They control the lake level to control flooding on the Patoka River.

you are lucky then, allot of Ind. lakes are run and ruined by lake associations. We pay thru license to fish Ind lakes but Lake Associations control them because they have Policitical pull...

I would counter that a lot of Indiana lakes are vastly improved by lake associations.

Patoka Lake is doing another Habitat Day real soon in March. Not sure of the date. Painter Creek.
