Not only the amish its the mega dairy's cfo's large feedlots with dairy heifers have to remember Indiana past a law that you cannot keep farmers from farming

I'm not against farmers or amish. I grew up on a farm & raised hogs for a lil time in my life. I live in a rural community. There is ways to control the manure in these CFO's & they should be made to follow the laws. The problem is money talks with all of this & alot of this is hid under the table.

Dogwood lake as well as 22 other ponds at Glendale Fish and Wildlife past 20 yrs has been hammered by the Amish to where DNR finally came in and put a 9” size limit on crappie. 1200 acres in size. Alittle too lake for a size limit that has now been in effect as nobody around here sees any improvement as it used to have outstanding blue gill, red ear, crappie and bass in it. And it’s getting weed overgrown with everything dumping into it. Weeds this last summer too exploded in all the bays and shallows over in West Boggs unfishable and the algae and bacteria in the water took Boggs over with. My argument is, if DRN doesn’t put a size limit on Boggs as small as it is, it will end up just like Dogwood as a Boggs won’t be able to stand up to the fishing pressure this year. You put 6-8 even 10 amish on a small pontoon boat and they fish till everybody has a limit including the kids and they keep everything they catch even if it’s 3” big. Add the waste running into the lake every time it rains to the fishing pressure and it’s not going to be able to handle it. It is what it is. It’s hard for the small community of Logoottee and Martin/Davis Co with no industry and little population to turn down over a million dollars cash income from the park and lake as their income is limited from other means. And they have a very aggressive advertising campaign being in various Boat/Vacation Shows and the printing of brochures at State welcome centers, etc, pushing that park and lake. At some point in time, you reach a point of no return.

Septic's = animal waste what's the difference?? Sounds more like some kind of Gov. excuses to me JMO

when lake was opened to fishing it was over talked,since thete are not a lot of public waters close,it was over fished big time,but fish were not fit to eat,due to farm run off. i fished lake 30 to 40 years ago it was good,but will not handle todays pressure.

DNR did another kreel survey and went deeper and came up with larger crappie this shock. Several in 12-14” and they tagged a bunch. If you catch one with a tag, turn the tag in at the gate house as they want to see how long it takes to catch them. I guess now, they are not going to put a size limit on them until this study is done. It’s a voluntary turn in so it’s a,guess how this study will turn out. The bureaucracy at work that can’t make up their minds as what to do.

Not sure if the run off makes the fish bad to eat for us or not. I know my family sure likes to eat the panfish from there and I enjoy catching them. It’s not unusual to catch a bunch of bass from there either. Most are not keeper size that I catch but it sure is fun to catch bass that are 12 to 14” one after another at times. Makes for a fun day on the water. I have not caught any big crappie from there but caught plenty of bluegill and Redear that are around a pound. Some a little over and some a little under. Also they seem to be pretty healthy since a bluegill can turn the front of the boat a different direction. Makes for a lot of fun for kids also.
