Default Fall Fishing Report: Cat 11/20

OK, here's a "fall" (nearly winter) fishing report. Lee and I hit up Cataract for about 4.5 hours Wed. afternoon. Quite a few trailers in the lot for a weekday, but everyone probably had the same idea as us, trying to get out on one of the last halfway nice days before everything freezes up. Water was at winter pool and 46 degrees. We found fish from about 8 ft. out to about 20 ft. willing to bite tubes. Ended up just shy of 200 for the trip, so it was a pretty steady bite. Still hoping for one more trip in the boat before things go south based on the long range forecast. Won't be long.

I can only imagine the struggle of trying to launch and load a pontoon by yourself. This time of year I try not to go out alone,

I did it a few times 25 yrs ago when I was younger and had a 16fter but dont really want to try it with a fully loaded 18fter..and your right its not a good idea to be on lake by yourself when its cold.

I am the opposite. Most of the time fishing by myself and also hunt by myself. Time waits on nobody and life is too short to be a biochie! When I loose my dexterity, flexibility, mobility, and reflexes (cracking 70 now,) then will I slow down maybe.

I hunted by myself for over 45 yrs, always preferred it that way except when rabbit hunting, but now I actually like deer hunting with a few select people one at a time best, makes it more enjoyable to talk about the hunt etc after and before.. Its not about flexibility, mobility etc when fishing cold weather its about if you happen to fall in 40 deg water, you have a very short time to get out and may not be able to do it w/o help. Fished by myself for yrs also and for the same reason prefer to fish w/someone anymore just more enjoyable.
