    Default Eagle Creek Res.

Eagle Creek at one time, was a fav. Of mine many moons ago. Just saw posting on Facebook, that DNR is going to discontinue all future fish management, no more stockings or surveys because of Eagle Creeks refusal to allow using kicker motors or electric motors and boats that fish there can only launch with Max. 10 hp motors. 25.00 fine if you launch with big motor on boat. Indy area lakes is getting to be a tough place to fish.

I've been following this for the last year. I talked to the director last year and she told me it was ok to have a larger motor but it had to be tilted up. She was concerned that I would be using the trolling motor and may not have enough power to get back to the ramp. I said that I had three batteries and that would be plenty. So, me and the grandmonsters went out there with no problem. I don't know why they changed from what the director said but it's creating problem for people that had been fishing out there. I like the lake and was probably going to be fishing out there but I don't need to pay a fine. With Monroe being high (still) and Cataract being higher (again), I was going to go to EC or Summit. I guess it will be Summit for a while. I hope they get this problem solved before they screw up a nice fishing lake. I could say more on FB or on here but don't really want to be banned for life.

Cevans, is that a $25 or $2500 fine?

Why dont they just make it a 10 mph speed limit and enforce it, fished EC alot 20-25 yrs ago caught a lot of nice crappie, catfish and wipers.

I could go for that or make it idle zone (5mph?) like Summit. Problem would be most everyone would push the envelope a little bit. But that happens everywhere. I just feel most of these problems might be from the locals complaining. I'd like to go back because it's only 15 miles away.

Guys bass fishing club tournaments in the big boats kept firing their big motors up. All it took was a couple to fubar it for everybody. The Parks dept tried letting the big boats on EC a couple other times in the 70’s and 80’s when I fished it out of a tin boat with a 9.9 on it and they did this before. Guess with the land owners, the sailboat club, the new rules have been made, politics wins again against the fisherman. I am alittle surprised that DNR will pull out of EC especially with the stocking of walleye in the lake. Politics will probably get DNR back involved with EC. But I don’t think you will see a change on the launch and lake rules.

Not sure I know Kirk, but Kudos to those guys fishing up there, high water that’s probably very muddy and trashed water. I got one inch in the rain gauge from this mornings storms with tons of lightning again hitting all over. These electrical storms this year are darned wicked keeping me off the water. About out DNR, they are all good and dedicated people that anymore are fighting politics in doing their thing. A lot has changed due to the politics of this state. They have to fight for every dime they get to make things work as best as possible for our hunting and fishing.

I fish there a lot and I live in West Lafayette. I have a small boat with a 9.9 and it allows me a place to fish that I don't get blown off the lake. The fisherman created this problem. I have seen so many people out there running their bigger motors. If those with bigger motors would have just used their trolling motors this wouldn't have happened. If the lake goes down hill there is no one to blame except the people that couldn't follow the rules.
