    Default Lemon today.

Told myself to never fish Lemon on a Sat. cause they only have a single ramp to launch from, but wanted to hit it again. Woke at 4 and was loaded and there by 7 am, and found myself in the middle of 2 Bass tourneys. 50 boats maybe? with one already launched and other one waiting till 7:30 so slammed getting boat ready and launched, only fished 4 hrs caught maybe 50 and kept 12 from 11 to 14”. Had 5 over 13”. One was a gilled 10.5 as he swallowed the crankbait. Water temp 58-59 max. Half inch of rain had stained the water it looked like in the upper half. This 2 plus inches we could get tonite will drop the water temps and back to fishing muddy water. I did catch the biggest, 14 1/8” going across a bay and creek channel that was 25 ft deep full speed in a chop, 2.5 mph with cranks set for 9’ but speed today was 1.4 to 1.6, in 8 ft.as deep as 12-14 ft of water with cranks set for couple feet off bottom. Saturday’s are brutal on Lemon.

Good, for you on the fish. I don't do Cataract on the weekends in the summer because some idiots prep their boats on the ramp. Moore's Creek at Monroe had maybe 10 vehicles today. They were practicing for tomorrows tourney. That's where I usually go.

You are a brave man. I normally refrain from fishing weekends and leave the water for the hard working folks who have waited all week to get out. I get my chores caught up, fish our ponds or look for catfish. Talked to a local who said Dogwood had produced some fish this week but very spotty and have to hit many areas. WB continues to get hammered. What is your opinion of your Helix so far? After seeing them on a friends boat I made the switch from HDS. Need to fine tune yet.

    Thanks for the great report!
I live about 15 minutes from Lemon and like you, normally avoid it completely on the weekend. I've been a couple times in the last couple weeks but found cold muddy water and small fish. Glad it is starting to improve!

I saw guys fishing the banks catching a few small fish. Even saw a guy keep a 5 inches. I snag mine out of deeper water either long lining jigs or my fav, cranks. You would think the larger fish with the water temp 59, would be coming up as long lining jigs in the shallows works great in the upper end and bays. Just hasn’t produced yet. That 14” crappie yesterday was caught trolling cranks from Riddle Point across to north bank and over creek channel with trolling motors set on 10 and at a speed of 2.8 mph so figure that one out! I didn’t want to get run over by the bass boats

    .

2yrs ago started the switch to the birds. To me, best pics on side scan and pretty simple to use. This winter, made the switch total as I wanted the 360 for seeing structure all around me as well as fish. Front of the jon boat has a 360 on Po Dunk Ideas Da Ducer and viewing the 360 using a Helix 10 mega DI g2n and under it, a 7 mega DI g3n for mapping and 2d and occassionally SI and DI off both as I have them networked to the 2 yr old 9 mega SI g2n at the back. I had to add fuse box, cutoff switch and completely rewire the boat this winter and after 3 weeks of setup and moving transducers around and tweaking this and that, really happy with the setup. I considered Garmin but didn’t care for the 20 degree angle or viewing or the picture,,,, maybe too old school as I have always been a structure fisherman and the 360 and the helix depth finders work for me as I wanted to see everything on the bottom. One thing about the 360, it’s so sensititive to interference and cross talking of other transducers on your setup and that is the hard part of setup. Other thing about electronics is, you can see and find the fish, you still have to catch them. I am very happy with the setup.
