Default Up a creek with half a paddle

I went fishing in the windy flooded conditions yesterday. Snapped my paddle in half about a mile down stream of where I put in trying to get thru a drift rack to more open water. Made for a long paddle back especially with the wind.Name: IMG_0349.jpg

We've all had days like that dude... They are the ones you don't forget. Getting back safe and dry is the main thing.

A canoe in the wind is no fun period with a unbroken paddle let alone a broken one. Glad your safe and didn’t have any worse severe problems.

Couple of small bluegill. Water was falling slow and there was more current than normal in this bayou due to high river.

I had neoprene chest-waders on so worst case I could have walked out, water was about 3 to 4 ft in that area. Hardest part was getting back to open water with the short paddle. The bayou necks down and gets shallow in that spot so there was tons of trash hung up. That is normally dry unless the river gets big and shortcuts thru this old creek.

Believe I'd start keeping a small roll of duct tape from now on..a splint from a stick and a few wraps of duct tape might've made your life a bit easier...just a thought. Glad you made it back safe..

I was gonna suggest a spare paddle. Course it always pays to have some duct tape handy.
