Hey guys My family and I are camping on Patoka Lake on 4/30. I was wondering if there was decent crappie fishing in that lake? Or any kind of fishing really! Just bringing the wife and kids and looking to have some fun!
We will know more after March 26. Slabmaster is holding there first tournament of the year there. But I'm going to guess they will be real small. Fishing has not been good down there since they kept it flooded. Used to be one of my favorites. You sure will be passing up alot of better lakes on the way to Patoka. Just my opinion.

Plenty of fish there just not a lot of big ones. If you are just looking for something to do to pass time then you will be served well. As others have mentioned, it is not worth driving to just for the fishing, unless you are just wanting to try a new lake.

This is the lake I fish the most. It's a beautiful lake, but the fishing has been miserable for the last few years. I have a few spots where I know I can catch a limit of small one (just barely cleanable) in just a couple of hours. However, find anything of any size has been beyond disappointing. Something has gone terribly wrong with the ecosystem in that lake, but I don't know what it is. It isn't just crappie, it is basically every type of fish. bass fishing has ben beyond miserable. It is like they all disappeared. The campground is very cool and the kids can enjoy catching a ton of tiny crappie, but don't expect to catch any fish you want to show off. although I have caught some decent cats in deep water by the dam. I don't enjoy catfishing much, but I do it after giving up on catching anything else.
I caught a 10lb Drum there a few years back and other than that nada. We have given up on Patoka. We love the lake but it's not worth the drive for the fishing.
