    Default Big Raccoon/Harden

Hi fellow crappie hunters....making a trip to Rockville this weekend and was wondering if Big Raccoon Creek and the Harden spillway are fishable this time of year from shore. Thanks.

Right now, they are dropping the lake and letting out 700 cfs and almost down to winter pool. Look the lake level and info up here. Louisville District Daily Lake Report. They might get done dropping it sometime this week. The lake levels are updated daily about 8:30 am each morning so keep a eye on them.

Thanks for the welcome. That was kind of my question...with the lake being down is there anywhere to shore fish? Or does it drop so much shore fishing isn’t an option? With them dropping the lake level, is 700cfs a second producing a pretty strong current? Or is that a trickle?

That’s a pretty good current but they dropped it about 200 cfs overnite and have only about a foot to go to winter pool as of this morning. 500 cfs is way less current than yesterday. Keep an eye on the lake levels as I would say they will even let less out by weekend. As for the lake itself somebody else needs to chime in as I would think the banks are pretty muddy as it’s down 22’ from summer pool.

Ok thanks for the info. I’ll probably stick to the spillway and look to get a mess of bluegill and crappie. I’ll report back any success.

There are all kinds of bank fishing options this time of the year since the lake is down. I like the east bank in the "S" turn north of Walker ramp. There are good laydowns too.
