    Default It’s getting muddy again!

4.4 inches at my house and I know other places had a lot more. Bean and corn fields also flooded as creeks and rivers are spreading out. Lakes levels are rising. Stay safe.

It's going to be at least a week before it dries out down here. Fortunately just a couple big tree limbs down.

Might have to watch the up coming weekend for any precipitation for the left overs of Hurricane Florence. I have seen a couple of forecasts of it coming this far inland. Hope not. We have had enough rain for a while.

Cevens, Can you help me please? I am traveling from Nortwest Indiana to Seymour IN for a Family reunion on Fri. I was going to stop at Raccoon and fish but I see it is up about five feet. I have fished Racoon after it flooded and I have not done well. Monroe is only up 2 feet, do you think it is worth fishing. I have never fished Monroe, is it a good crappie lake? Can you recommend a different lake that has good fishing in that area that is not flooded? Thanks in advance.

It’s heavy stained to muddy in the upper half of Monroe from the 446 causeway east as Monroe is about 2’ up. All your lakes are up and rough right now. Sat. at Monroe, they have 115 boat FLW Main Quailfier Tourney for Bass fishermen so you might want to avoid it. I know Lake Lemon received 5-6 inches also so it’s probably muddy as well. You might try Hardy Lake south of Seymour off I 65 but I don’t know how much it got for rain and I am not sure of the abundance of crappies in it anymore. Someone could chime in maybe about it. Brookville is up about 5.5 ft and from idlezone to Dam is pretty clear but lake is full of floating debris in east part of state. If the hurricane goes the way it’s looking like, parts of Indiana may get another couple of inches starting first of the week as it eventually moves up from the south before it finally heads east as a low pressure system. Just have to wait and see how that works out. Just be careful of floating debris in this high water where ever you fish.

If you do fish Monroe, crappie are scattered but friends of mine practicing for that Sat bass tourney this week have been catching a few in Saddle Creek and Eel creek branch in the idle zone casting cranks with largest one 14 inches but tons of little ones as well as yellow bass so fish are catchable in the stained to muddy water, just not any numbers of keeper size crappie, but heck, they are bassin. I haven’t fished Monroe in 4 weeks as been covered up with trade shows right now.

Thank you for the information. It doesn't sound like much is fishable in the area. I think we are going to try Starve Hollow state rec. Thank you again for helping.

Give a report how you do as I haven’t heard a lot about it this year. I might fish a couple more times the last of this month before I get into bow hunting, but the friggin deer have to change a bit for me to hit it hard. Deer and everything has been alittle weird acting in my area and not moving a lot yet. Even their racks are still in velvet and not much rubbing happening around me. I have a lot of trail cam pics but 90 percent are after dark. Figure that out.
