Easier to launch from Cunot vs. St. Park in my opinion. Costs to get in St. Park, Cunot free. You can find crappie on both sides of the river channel cut or slot that separates both big bodies of the lake. I catch as many from both sides.
New to fishing from a boat. Old in general. Never been to Cataract but I see online there are two ramps. Should I fish the north end or south end. I’m not coordinated enough to work a trolling motor and fish so I’m just looking for an area to anchor where there might be some crappie around. I don’t fish weekends and I’m beginning to think crappie don’t bite Monday-Thursday lol. There is a possibility that I don’t know squat about crappie fishing but hey I’m having fun.

Thanks for the reply. How far toward Cataract Falls can I go? I haven’t been able to find any information on lake depth.
At this time of the year, and as low as the lake is of which is normal pool, if you get out of the river channel of which is not very wide, you will end up on mud flats. It’s not worth it for me to go upstream above hwy 42 bridge, but each to their own. If you read all the previous posts on the Cat, you will find crappies being caught in 8’ to 12’ of water off edges of points and flats. Good luck fishing.
