I was there today. I wonder if that's why my hairy daughter got sick when we got home. Of course she got in the water and drank some. She seems fine now. Interesting.

Yeppers!!!!! I am not going to tell you my wife gets these warnings from a personal friend of hers to let me know,,,that works in DNR and was told, they are NOT fishing Monroe any more till it tests clean. When it gets hot, water temp 85-90, no water running into the lake, only 50 cfs letting out, you have algie blooms and just have to be aware. Don’t get a cut on your hand, don’t get stuck with a hook, don’t get water sprayed on you, in your eyes, face, nose, or mouth. Kinda tough right now to stay antiseptically clean.

There wasn't too many fish cleaned today (2). There was the usual hook and fin pricks in the hands and of course there was some spray in the face from going thru waves. I guess I might make it if I wake up in the morning.

I wouldn’t worry to much as it’s only at advisory level one of four right now. But they only test bi weekly. I think they test at the beach, so the more remote bays would be more of a concern to me. It’s just the time of the year for this to develope and when we reach cooler temps it will subside. The lake I won’t fish right now is west Boggs as friends camped there over the 4th and their 2 kids ended up at the doc’s office from swimming there. The smaller lakes suffer more on algie blooms than the larger lakes sometimes. But there again, it will subside with time and cooler temps. We need some heavy hard rains right now.

Those test results are a week to ten days old, for a lab test. Their are "quick" test kits, that yeild results in an hour or two, although not as accurate or accepted by EPA/dnr as a lab test.
Neither one is cheap. Only certain labs in the country are certified too perform the full lab test.
Drinkin coffee, missin fish.
I wasn't really worried about get ill. Over the years I had enough antibiotics, chemo and radiation to kill off just about anything. I think it does explain why Sophie Sue was sick when we got home. But she's back to her normal rambunctious cattle dog ways, ready to go again.

Blue green algae is especially harmful to dogs.
I'm hoping that the lower temps and rain have helped the situation.
