Default 4 hrs on Raccoon today

had to wait on step son to show up this morning which meant not getting on lake fishing until 10, we caught probably 75 which most were small 8-8.5.. left due to my neck/back killing me and it started to rain, everyone I talked to was complaining about all the crappies being so small.Big ones more then likely are still deeper plus it seems to be in a cycle of smaller crappie.. water temp was 62 deg in main lake when we got there, 64 in idlezone---- 65 in main lake and 67.5 in idle zone when we left.

We really need a size limit on crappie. Just my opinion.

I tend to agree with you, there's a lot of people crappie fishing now.. 20 yrs ago I used to go out on Raccoon get there at daylight and most all day this time of year there would be maybe 7-8 boats in the main parking lot for the day.. when we got there this morning there was probably 80 or so lot was full(a lot of bass fisherman today to maybe tournament).
So yeah a size limit would be a good thing just for the fact they get pressured to death, this will be my 1st year back fishing out of a boat in a long while.

They put one on a couple lakes down here, but it's years too late. Not sure some lakes will ever rebound.

I like fresh fish a much as anyone, but there is no meat on a 6”” inch crappie that many people keep.

And, DNR is not always around to enforce the dang limits. There has to be enforcement for them to really work. In the end analysts, I am betting DNR will take a stance and say, “ see! They don’t work.” And why? No enforcement! Enforcement also educates more fishermen also that they can work.

I agree as I have seen a lot of small fish being kept. If it is not 10" put it back and give it a chance to get bigger, and here a John hays you never see any kind of enforcement at all which is a shame.
