Replying to a thread from a long time back. In the past few weeks, I've driven out to the Ford at Laughrey twice. Neither time did I take my boat/trailer and glad I didn't. I know the river level has fluctuated a bit but it seems no one really maintains that ramp there.
It looks like great fishing water. Probably bass year round and crappie in the spring as the water looks fairly deep on the side of the ford toward the river. However, the entire parking and ramp area has nearly a foot of mud in places. It's deeply rutted out and someone might get stuck quite easily. It really needs to be cleaned up and it seems that hasn't happened in a long, long time.
I will probably take a kayak there this summer. Park somewhere a ways a way from the creek and walk it down.
