    Default Nightstalking raccoon lake

My first time nightstalking was a success! We caught over 100 crappie but they were extremely small. The clear lights hooked up to a marine grade trolling motor battery worked great. I will definitely do this again and can't wait to try this technique on Monroe reservoir. It was a beautiful night and cool.

Glad you had a good experience. I am sure it was much calmer and safer to be on the big reservoirs at night.

Try the darkest nights around the new moon, I tend to get way more baitfish and quality crappie that way. Good for hybrids and walleye too.

It was much safer and calmer and quieter. It was a great experience the main way I will crappie fish in the summer from now on!

The moon did not rise until about 2am and we were done by then. I will try to plan more of my nightstalking around the new moon phase. Thanks for the info.

My brother in law is catching them on raccoon lake trolling. Small ones but they are biting. Someone needs to find the big ones and I hope it's me.

keep searching and you'll happen across some toads. night under the lights can be magic at times. look to main lake points humps and deep weed lines, in summer, for the monsters.

Whats the details on how you fished?

A floating light? Using minnows around it?

That's some great input from all. I'm planning a 6 dayer to Monroe the week after the 4th. Will give this a shoot.
