Default First time on Lake Monroe

I will be camping in Brown County for three days next week with my wife who is a horse trail rider. I'm taking the boat and plan to crappie fish on Lake Monroe. I have never been there. Any advice on where to launch and general areas of the lake to fish would be appreciated. Are there any Lake boating restrictions or permits required? What are the size and catch limits? Lake Shelbyville in Illinois is my home Lake and I generally fish standing timber or lay downs. Is there similar cover to fish on Monroe?

For crappie no size limit, 25 fish daily creel limit, 2 days possession limit (50 fish). From Cutright ramp go to the right or east, go straight till yu can't go any more turn right should be looking into saddle creek, should find some, if any, standing timber and downed trees. Watch depth finder. $20 launching fee per year, also daily fee (I think). Can get a permit at state HQ across from the FISHING SHED (bait and gas shop) on way and before you get to cutright ramp which is across the causeway immediately to the left. Will catch plenty of fish, GOODLUCK have fun. Will need a report when all done and back home.

I usually put in at payne town or cutright. Prefer payne town, but not much difference in the ramps or location. Rarely crappie fish there so can't tell you much. Know the spots I'd try, most of the major creek arms, and even the main lake would be where I'd end up fishing. Actually know of one creek channel that would be my first stop, but I haven't been there all year so who knows if it would hold fish.

Idle only from cutright back, other side of causeway is fast zone.

I'm guessing the only closed ramp is in Hardin Ridge in the Hoosier National Forest. Some parts of the lake are closed for waterfowl season and a good map will show you the places. Cutright should be open. It's a state ramp.
