Found some greys and yellows today. They were in sandy soil. One of my indications is when the poke starts coming up. Found my first today. Next week should be excellent.

Found about a 100 this morning, several whites and a few yellows even around poplar and ash,,rest were blacks and couple of pecker heads. Blacks will be gone this week and had to leave another 20-30 in the woods as the rain had beat heck out of them. Going out this afternoon and search for the whites and yellows where I know they come up. Brought home about 4lbs.

found another 100 or so this morning. It was a mix of greys, whites, yellows and blacks. Finding them where I normally don't,,and in places I always find them,,sparce pickings. Very nice find HHD.

Same here, cevans. I picked up 2 big yellows in random spots and nothing in good spots. 2 mushrooms and 10 ticks is a bad ratio...

I spray all clothing, and all my backpack gear and hunting gear... with permethrin, and spray bod down with deet,,no tics, chiggers or turkey mites for me. If you use permethrin,,,its good for about 6 weeks and lots of washings on clothing before you need to use it again. Check it out. Sawyers makes a good one. I use a consentrate from a Farm Store. A tablespoon to water makes a gallon of spray.

a friend, his son and I went out for four hours yesterday and picked over four hundred blacks, whites, yellows, greys, and a few snake heads. We left a bunch behind because the storms rolled in on us. I caught some nice crappie before he met me at the ramp. They all fried up nice!

Nice going fellas on the mushrooms. Good tick advice from cevans. I think I was finding ticks as soon as the snow melted. I thought the bad winter would take a dent in them but apparently not. Not sure if I like finding mushrooms better than eating them or vice versa. Here's the Piece De Resistance......

I backpack using hammocks and cuben tarps (not a tenter),,and spray them..spray underwear,,(silk, poly) socks (smartwool), nylon pants and nylon shirts, jackets (down) permethrin won't hurt a thing. Kind you buy at a Farm Store may smell a bit but will wear off after a day or so,,give it time to dry as you don't want to get it on skin..I even spray around house as I live in a wooded area of my acres and gets rid of skeeters and tics. You can soak items for a better coverage if you want,,just let it dry,,and good to go. Nice fixins,,HHD.
