    Default Tick-palooza

Geeze...it's going to be a banner year for ticks me thinks. Since this last warm spell, we've had a heck of a time just letting our little inside dog out to run. Got 15 ticks off him yesterday and he is treated. Got to brush and inspect him every time we let him out. Now I am finding them on me as I tramp around in the field and woods. Turkey hunters and mushroom hunters be advised. I think I am going to have to get me a flock of them guineas...LOL.

You're not kiddin! The dog and I brought home quite a few this weekend. I've got a camping/turkey/mushroom hunt and a little fishin weekend after next...let me know what kind of deal you find on those birds. Imagine how furbearer's feel. I've seen hundreds come off of a deer cape.

treat your fishing clothing with permethrin...the ticks might get on you, but rest assured they won't live long enough to do any damage. While wearing a pair of bib overalls treated with the stuff, I took a hike down a ditch in tall grass and when I came out there were half a dozen ticks on the front of my bibs...all were dead!

I bought the stuff online, it's a little pricey, but well worth it...what you do is spray the clothing you normally wear while outdoors, let it dry 24 hours; then re-apply the stuff and let dry for another 24 hours...then you're good to go...even with regular washing, you're good for about 3 months!

Between ticks and mosquitos its kinds scary getting bitten anymore with all the crap they pass on to us. Fished till after dark a month ago and thought we were going to be bloodless by the time we got in the truck!! Hate to go out in the evenings anymore. Worked in a hospital for 5 years and seen too many people sick from bug bites. MRSA was always a hospital acquired infection, but for the last 10-12 years it has moved to the general population. Simple bug bites are killing people!
Keep them poles bent and the boat right side up! LOL
