A couple of years ago I have seen a family of river otters on Salamonie. That's the kind of stuff that draws me to the water. You never know what you will catch or see. :o

I've seen an otter on the Kankakee a couple of times...as for a bobcat, we had one come up our back hill to within 20 feet of the house, got to observe it through the laundry room window - I've only seen the bobcat during the short window before the sun sets.

I've also seen some "big cat" tracks in our area...supposedly, they've had several sightings here in NW part of the state of a big cat, my guess is it's a cougar come down from up north, extending its range to to overpopulation of what was once undeveloped land in Wisconsin and Michigan.
Roaming the banks of the Kankakee River and anywhere else fish might lurk.

I know of two that have been shot here in Clark County in the last two years. I've heard the Army Ammunition Plant is full of them and that's where these two were shot. It's illegal to shoot them, I wouldn't want to get caught.

We have had bobcats around Crane Naval Depot for years,,and DNR has about a dozen or so around me radio collared they track. I have seen them numous times. Last month, had 3 river otters in a creek about a mile from the house, during high water flooding,,they had to come from Mascattatuck (approx 50 miles due east of my location) in my opinion as I know of no where else they released them in southern Indiana. Its great to see these kind of animals in Indiana where so few reside now in such a populated state. Hope they continue to make it.

Not sure about the otter (Could be) but there is a bobcat that was hit near Poor Boys in the HQ office.

There are otters in the lake and I have seen them at Sugar Ridge too.

When I lived in Indiana, I used to hunt in southern Indiana. I have hunted the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Clark County along the Ohio River before many times.

That place is full of Turkeys right now, and a good number of Deer.

Big Oaks NWR has a good number of Bobcats. The staff set up trail cameras at Big Oaks, and they got several good pictures of Bobcats.

They got a cool picture of a Bobcat and a Coyote feeding at the same time on a dead deer. That was really cool to see. The Big Oaks NWR staff sent that to me.

Down here in Kentucky we have a very healthy population of Bobcats, and Otters.

You can hunt both species in Kentucky and in Tennessee.

The Kentucky/ Barkley Lakes area has a good Bobcat population.

I think one day Indiana will have enough Bobcats to allow a Bobcat hunting season.
