I wish the otters would spread out a little more. I spend alot of time in and around the Muscatatuck and they are thick as thieves in some areas. Two winters ago we were hunting ducks on the river when a group of six otters came down stream. As they neared our decoys, they started to form a circle around one of them, hissing all the while. We were just checkin it out when all of the sudden another otter came from underneath and slammed the decoy! It really was something to see!

I know guys that run lines, and they will tell you that an otter will flat out rob your lines....either of the bait or the fish. It's easy to see why our ancestors did hunt them to near extinction in Indiana, they were competing for food. It is very nice to see them and enjoy them, but just like most furbearers, there will come a time when they may have to be "controlled" as well.

I’m up to my butt in bobcats. One day this last spring,,I had a female gone down my drive way with 2 kits,,,then couple hours later another female with 3 kits followed by a large male. Later that afternoon on the way to get groceries..had to stop on a bridge over Indian Creek a mile from the house cause 2 kittens were sitting in the middle of the road sunning themselves with the large female off to the side of the road as their den was under the bridge...all in one day. I have them about every nite in the yard hunting and picking off the rabbits. We need to cull them out.
