First of this last week had a copperhead almost 4' long and fat and mean get into the garage and it got under the boat and couldn't kill it before it finally went under the fridge and freezer. I looked up on the Internet and ordered some snake repellant to try out. SerpentGuard is the name of it made in San Antonio Texas and supposed to last up to 6 weeks. Mixed a 16 oz bottle with 2.5 gal. Of water in a sprayer and sprayed the entire garage and under the porches and decks as far as I could get. If you use in the yard a hard rain will wash it away. In about a hour dang copperhead came out of the garage moving so fast I still couldn't kill it and it made it into the woods thru heavy underbrush and I didn't follow it. Stuff works tho. You can order it off the net by googling it. Including shipping about 56.00 total. I am ordering more.

Heard a newscast that it was a copperhead rattler. Got to love our newscasters, they just read what is on the teleprompter.

Wait till the farmer finally cuts the hay field across the road from my woods. It's only hay field for a few miles in any direction. I always tell everybody to stay out of the high weeds. Anywhere you have field mice, you have copperheads.
The main times of the year they are nasty and can be agressive is April/may, Aug/sept as they can breed twice a year and the older ones only molt maybe once a year and they can be bitchy then. Otherwise leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Today the wife took the shovel to her rose bushes and killed 2 copperheads over 2.5 ft long. One was agressive and tried to strike her twice. Here it is only Feb 23rd and the warm days are bringing the snakes out.

I have seen stories on the news in Indianapolis and in newspaper that the population of Timber Rattlers in Brown County state park is in the low thousands and has been steady for many years.
There are reports of dogs being bit, no people or at least no fatalities that I've heard of.
