Have you ever seen a Poisonous Snake in Indiana?

You know thats a bunch of BS fining someone for killing a deadly snake. I think they should all be killed. If them s*b's want to fine me they will be in for a surprise. I'm retired and I am willing to lay it out.

I live in Ferdinand spend a ton of time in the outdoors. I saw a total of two poisonous snakes in my life both came the same year. A rattle snake and a copperhead with small ones. I did think that was odd since most reptiles lay eggs then move on. I have stood on the bank fishing at the Ferdinand Forest and people walking by are jumping back from the banks screaming copperhead. Well it was in fact a water snake. I just wonder how often a snake is misidentified. It is very rare to see a copperhead in the water. I was at the 4-H fair this summer walked down to the lake there was a dead water snake there. Teen age kids there playing thought they had killed a copperhead. I personally don't kill snakes. Snakes are beneficial they eat mostly rodents. A copperhead will lay and hide and if you step on it it will bite. A rattler will usually warn you so you can back off. Insects and spiders kill more people each year than snakes.

I know that Rattle Snakes are protected. What about Copperheads ?

Not copperheads. Wife killed 3 fter next to hot tub on deck last week

Let the dogs out tonite to use the bathroom and while walking out from the porch to the drive way,,saw and killed a 10" baby copperhead in the driveway. Aweful late for them being born this late,,but I figure heat we are having now is hatching them out as this one hadn't been around very long,,got to be a nest somewhere close to the yard tho. Across from my 40 acres,,farmer just cut his hay field,,had 3 large blacksnakes go right down the driveway in the last few days and let them go. But hate copperheads and they will get wacked any way I can. Even tho my yard don't need mowed,,it will get clipped short in the morning.

Jeeze,,,on Fox 59 news this morning,, 2 pics of Timber Rattlers about 3' long each,,located in Morgan Monroe forest. They are on the move. News showed them and mentioned,,you can't kill them cause they are on the endangered species list and protected but that big and fat,,would make me think twice. Got to be a nest somewhere close by being that big and fat around about 2.5-3" dia.

Wife killed with shovel, yesterday, 4 just hatched copperheads, 6-8" long at the end of the front door walkway at the edge of the driveway. We have a nest close to the house somewhere, and will have to watch the house pets so they don't get bitten. Warm weather has the snakes on the move. She also shoo'ed a 5' black snake from beside the hot tub on the deck yesterday too. We don't kill them.
