    Default Ice out crappies

Anyone in Illinois been fishing since the ice disappeared a few weeks ago? Curious to depths you have been finding them. Got a livescope for my kayak on sale last week and wanting to cure the itch next weekend if weather will let me.

nothing too specific needed but from central il and fish mostly lake Bloomington and evergreen.

    tight lines!

This weather today should wake them up. I went to Banner last week and then 2 days later to SpringLake at Manito. Water only 39 to 41 at best, too early I guess. No crappies, a couple of billy bass on minnow and beetle spin, my favorite early spring bait. My swimming pool totally thawed and went from 42 to 52 over nite.

Fished Shelbyville yesterday. Caught them in ~ 2 foot of water. 45° water and 65° ambient.

Went to evergreen today for a few hours… water temps were 39-42 depending on area. Caught probably 50 fish and brought home a limit. The crappies were in 10-15 ft of water, some in groups and some roaming( few feet off the bottom).
