    Question ? Registering a boat, questions ?

Just bought a used boat (14'), private transaction, from out of state. It was titled and registered in Indiana.
I just looked on IDNR's site.
Am I reading correctly, since it's 14' long, I do NOT need to title it? This is optional now? Is it recommended? Easier for resale later? Bill of Sale acceptable without a title?
DNR's site did not mention anything, unless I missed it, about tax forms, for this type of transaction. Did I miss that also?
I simply start entering information, Year, Hull ID, etc?
Registering is done solely on DNR's site? Private licensing facilities are no longer allowed to do this?

Sorry for all the questions, haven't done or been involved in this since the changes.

Doesn't look like anyone has an answer. When I was a kid in the 70s my dad used to use a local hardware/license store. He fished bass tourneys with the owner whose long passed by now. The company is still open with his kids running it I think. You might give them a call? Maybe they still have a good knowledge of boat related subjects.

Romano License Service. They are in Fairview Heights (maybe O'fallon too).

I am sure each state has its own rules. In Tennessee, I got a 14 foot last year. Bought from and individual out of state. I only had bill of sale for the old tinny. I registered it and paid sales tax. Then I was able to register with the Tennessee wildlife agency here. That is required here for anything with a motor. I do not know anything about your state requirements, but a friend of mine is from your area. I will ask if he knows.

Thanks all! Illinois took away license privileges for private entities for boats. Even boat dealers could only title/register boats that they sold. I called a local private license service , they said they could now. They are working on it for me.
