Do you think this coloration is caused from an infection from that wound? Same fish in both pics. This pond also has some magnolia crappie. Not sure if it could be a defect instead of the black stripe this dude just got a black side of his face. What do you think?

My guess is that it has something to do with his wound. Maybe a nerve that controls color was injured.
