Went out for 3-4 hours yesterday, water was still between 48-50. It was very windy and didn’t find any crappie. Still trying to figure out how to locate them consistently.
went 4/15. water was around 56 deg. most were being caught in the sumps.
I went 4/15 and struggled. Managed to catch several but they were all shorts. What I did catch was off submerged stumps when the wind let up. Wind was too much for my boat on main lake or outside of the wind blocked bay I was in. . Marked tons of fish in open water but they didn’t want to bite a minnow or a jig. I though they might be in the bushes already but I didnt catch any there. Blew out the hub on my trailer somewhere close to my house and managed to limp it home. Didn’t hear it fail in the rain. Now in search of new axle since spindle got buggered up badly when it let go. Glad It didn’t happen on the interstate.

Oh man, been there before. Lost one on my way there a few years back, limped around town trying to find someone to fix it. Finally found a place that would do it since I didn’t have tools along, $350 bearing later they said “you better fix that when you get home”. Called redneck to get an entire axle assembly and was quoted like $800+, when asked if that was the best they could do they said they could do it for around $250. Crazy what the one question did. Should have just did that from the start and stayed at the lake til it came in instead of the $350 hack job for a $15 bearing.
Hate to see that for you !! I just put all new hubs on my trailer with new tires. My boat& trailer is only 4 years old but I don't want those problems on the road. I found all my parts at northern tool lucky for me they have a store in Indy now which is only about an hour drive for me & it is full of everything from tools to parts.

I know it’s a pain to do ,but I check my bearings every year and put new seals and grease in them. It’s
easier to do in the garage or driveway. Never gonna be as easy or cheaper then that.✌️
Need to check mine! Glad u made it home.
