Default Bank fishing at evergreen lake near Bloomington?

I am not looking for anyone's spot. How has evergreen lake outside of Bloomington been the last year or so? Has it been overrun with people?

Haven’t fished off the bank there but I don’t see a lot of bank fisherman when I go. I would think you could find some spots if you were willing to hike through the camping areas. I did see people fishing by the pump house last fall and they were catching some small crappie’s. I don’t think they want people fishing there but I am not sure.

Evergreen has biking/hiking trails pretty much all the way around the lake. Lots of bank fishing opportunities, however it is an underutilized resource. There are plenty of popular spots where the road gets close to the lake or the grass is mowed; the dam, pump house, campgrounds, picnic areas, bridges, etc.

2 years ago Evergreen got pounded hard by fishermen. It was the only lake open during the Covid lock down. People were coming from Chicago, Rockford, etc. I went one weekend and there was 1 boat parking space left, I took it. There was a boat on every point and in every cove. I wasn't about to show the crowd my honey holes so I went boat shopping. I was already researching a new boat and took the opportunity to cruise the lake looking at all the boats and there layouts. I even flagged down a few while tehy were traveling between spots and asked them questions about their rigs, likes/dislikes, etc.
We tournament fish the lake and have for years. The size and quantity was down last year. I expect the fish to recoup this year.

I used to try to fish there and blm all the time. Terrible for trying to fish from the shore. A few friends from college told me about lake Decatur about 5 years ago. Idk where you are from but being just a few miles down the road it is a much more walking/trails/easy chair/bank fishing lake. Another plus to Decatur is multiple great bait shops to chose from. Mikes tackle world if you have never been is the best..
And with that, I'll see you on the water...
