    Default Shelbyville Help

Heading out next week to Shelbyville for 4 or 5 days and looking for a little intel on the current bite.

Not asking for anyone's hot spots, but more along the lines of favored baits, depths or techniques that are currently working.

Staying down by Lithia Springs, but can run/ travel to anywhere on the lake.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Mike

Follow the shad!! Once this warm weather leaves and the water temp comes down a little more they will start moving into the coves. Standing timber/laydowns are usually always good. Some people have been catching them off of the habitat cubes St. Louis District > Missions > Recreation > Lake Shelbyville > Recreation > Fish Attractor Maps. Good luck and have fun
A person should learn something new every day!

shad are already on the shore lines and in coves. fish being caught both shallow and deeper. white bass can be caught on wind blown shorelines.

    Thanks guys

Any preferred baits or colors or live bait?

Sounds like a shad shape/color is a no brainer, but there always seems to be a few local favorites.

Stopping in at Chips on the way down and probably don't need anything, but I always find something I just have to have and drop few bucks in the local economy.

Have an assortment of jigs, plastics, zips and small spoons.

    Thanks again

Just a follow up for those that may be interested and thanks to all that responded to my initial inquiry.

Water was 73-75 degrees down by the Lithia Springs area.

Bite was what I would call somewhat neutral, steady but not snapping yet.

Bait of choice was a minnow with a slip bobber.

Did catch some fish casting 1/16 & 1/8 oz chartreuse jigs with a BGarland baby shad monkey milk bait.

Couple of pics of the structure fished and a pic of how my tracks on Shelbyville was recorded by my HB and displayed on Google Earth.LOL

Have no idea how HB thought I was off the west coast of Africa.
