Spawn over ?
Is the spawn completely over in central Illinois? Brought home 30 keepers on 5-17-20 from a 900 acre lake. Water temp started at 61 and warmed up to 68 in mid afternoon. Fishing was slow untill about 2:00. Then they turned on in 3 fow weedbed. 27 out of 30 were males. 3 females had hard eggsacks. Weather was pretty cloudy and cool this past week keeping the water temp cool. Went to same lake yesterday 5-22-20. Fishing was bad! Had 6 keepers. Re leased them. Same water temps & conditions as 5 days earlier. Caught on very sporadic locations. No pattern. A guy told me they spawned out. I really don’t think they are all done yet. I don’t think the water temp has been warm enough consistently enough yet. I think there might be 7-10 days left of good spawn left with warm stable water temp in the next week. Just curious about others thoughts? I’m I right or completely off my rocker & there done ? New to this sight and first post. Little lengthy. Sorry. Good fishing everyone.

Welcome to sight but we have rules and good report but you NEED to post pics or it didn't happen. It's not hard and gives your report sizzle.
as for is spawn over or what's happening? that's like asking do we understand women. anyone who claims to "know" doesn't and it's always a mystery. had you had a big front move thru between trips? seems to drive them off banks and could reset or not for later. Good luck in figuring it out and again welcome to best Crappie site there is!

Fished my pond with grandkids today. Kept 25 gills. Gill spawn is done in the pond.

Sangchris and Springfield are not over. Just starting.
Water temp is just now getting to 70.
Water clarity is the biggest problem right now.
Got these today on Sangchris.
And my buddy just got a new fish finder and I gave him some #’s...and he pulled this one off a brush pile today
2lb 6oz. I’m taking credit for it because he would have never known about that spot if we’re not for my GPS #!

Thanks for the tips hdhntr. Made me and my fishing partner laugh. Sounds exactly like mill creek any weather. Went today and caught 11 keepers. All in 12-20 fow at 3 to 10 feet down. Figured they were done. Nope. 1 male and 10 females full of eggs. I ate humble pie. Lol. 1st pic. 38 from 2 weeks ago. 2nd & third pic me & then me & my fishing partner from today. Sorry no pic of all 11 today hdhntr, only 4. I know , it didn’t happen. Lol
