Hi Rob,
I believe all wildlife, ourselves included, are influenced by the moon phases. Some more than others and I think fish more so than any other.
However, I think consistency of water temp/conditions are more influential than anything else. If we had consistent Spring-like weather in March, they would do their thing and be done by early April. I remember a relatively mild winter and an early spring, I think maybe 2012 or 2013 (I should keep a fishing log), where they were in the buckbrush at Rend in the middle of March, when normally it’s late April/early May.
So I guess I’m saying consistent springlike weather is most important. Or maybe it has as much to do with the previous fall/winter conditions as I have caught fish in October that were forming a big egg sack. Mother Nature is a mad scientist!!
If all this was easy, it wouldn’t be as much fun!
Congrats on the nice mess on Otter and good luck the rest of the spring season.
