Question Kaskaskia river - New Athens area

Haven't been there in years. Is it worth trying? Would be going for bass and crappie. Thinking of a few places for when I get the boat done.

The river was high last year, I did not fish it for crappie, caught a lot of catfish, in years past I fished the oxbows for crappie, the size was good but it was an all day job to catch more that a dozen, I fish lakes most of the time for crappie. I hate to spend the day throwing Asian carp out of my boat when I fish the river.

Many years ago it was a great crappie fishery
Asian carp have killed all good fishing for pinkish and bass on the river.. they opened up many oxbow a couple years ago, watch running up and down the river as I know two people who have been knocked out by flying slimeballs...
