    Default Lockjaw Shelbyville

Finished Thursday, May 30 seven hours concentrated mostly on walleye in the morning and Crappie in the afternoon. It was one of those days when hardly anyone was out and after a few hours I realized why I ended up with five small walleye five small Crappie and a couple nice bass thrown in for good measure it was really tough fishing.Fished brush piles and they were just not there At least to me Crappie appeared to be in transition

13 3/4 inches walleye lost Big sauger-dragging minnow - troll crank baits on flats I think a big part of difficult fishing was high pressure blue skies just hours after a big rain

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

We fished the Last Spring Central Illinois Crappie Tournament on Shelbyville yesterday. We fished mainly willows that had some deeper water on them. And was thick with shade on them. We set the minnow 10 inches under the slip cork. Work every hole you can find in the willows. This pattern has been working since water came up 3 and a half feet, and is over summer pool now. We caught over 80 to 100 fish. All returned to water except one female that took her deep. Females was spawned out. Males had their tuxes on full colors, and tales beat up.. Looks like with the forecast the Ville might be on the rise again, will have to see how much we get.
