Quick report from Wed. 9/19. Water is still 2-3 high. Color on the North end has cleared a bit. Rest of the lake has good water color. Fishing is still slower than normal. There weren't many boats out. I talked to some catfish and crappie guys who did nothing. I fished 6-1030 and had zero bites in most places I fished, zero bites for about 2 hours except for a 1.5 incher, which may be a new record small for me. Found one spot that I got bit. I spot locked and fished the crap out of it and got about 20 whites with 10 being keepers. I moved to one last spot, caught one keeper on my first cast and that was it. All caught on a chartreuse glitter sassy shad and chartreuse rooster tail shallow on rocks. It rained on the drive there and rained on the drive home, temps were mild. By the time I got home it was a sauna outside. It seemed like they were on the verge of picking up again. Going again Tuesday or Wednesday. I feel sorry for those Crappie USA guys tomorrow seems like it will be a tough time. I'm working so I'll miss the weigh in.

I've never been to a weigh in. I'm awfully tempted to make the 30 minute drive, as opposed to staying here while our daughter gets ready for homecoming, and the pictures.

Got out today. Caught about 35 nice whites, kept 20. 4 or 5 nice 14"-15" fish. There were a few boats out for a Wednesday. Fished 9am-4pm to scratch out the ones we got. School bus fishing, picked up one here and one there. Think we had one double. I took my boss who doesn't fish much and he caught quite a few, more than I expected and I had fun watching him catch. I was even more impressed with the eleven beers he drank. I had 2 bottles of water and a coke...I'm a lightweight. Water temps were low 70s and clarity was pretty good for the mudhole except near the trestle openings. Most were caught on the trestle riprap...surprise surprise. I'm about ready to switch over for some crappie. Maybe one more white bass trip next week but I'll pack along my Ozark jig poles just in case. Then start heading to Rend and look for some slabs. White bass were definitely down from last year for me. So were the crappie this spring. Its been a strange weather year. Cold azz April, lots of rain in July and August, and September has been pretty dang hot until today and that 5" downpour a couple weeks back didn't help. All in all, it still beats the hell out of work any day.

Good job Nats. Gonna head out tomorrow for some whites. Think I'll pass on the crappie until the water cools...probably be December at this rate. Almost 90 the first week of October, sheesh. Thanks for the report. Hopefully I'll have something to add tomorrow. Wind looks like it will be blowing the right direction so maybe they will school up on some shad.

Slayed the whites this morning. Fished 7-11 and caught about 60 keepers and a few smaller ones. I kept 30 total and gave 15 to my retired neighbor buddy when I got home. Boat traffic was heavy. Water color was good for Carlyle. Wind was SSW blowing right on the north rocks and the shad were thick. It really slowed after about 10am. Almost all were caught on a 2" Yum white pearl curly tail. The same thing I throw every year. I took 5 rods. A white bandit 100, a white 2.5" sassy shad, a chartreuse flake 2.5" sassy shad, and a 1/6oz chart rooster tail. I could throw any of them in a spot and nothing, then throw the Yum curly tail and get bit. Today was finally a more normal fall white bass day with mostly bigger fish wearing out that light tackle. You should try to get out before the next weather change. Tight lines all.
