Went Labor Day. On the water from about 3:30 to 6:30. Missed most of the pleasure boaters but didn't miss the heat. Caught about 30 whites, cleaned 20. All were caught shallow on a 1/4oz swim bait. Mostly chartreuse and a few on white or white/black back. I tried a bandit/jig combo a bit but caught zero. I probably gave up on it too soon because I like throwing the swim baits on light braid and medium light spinning rods. Gonna try again tomorrow at first light and get off the water before it gets too warm. I got a new trolling motor this spring with spot lock. I should of got this years ago. I'm so used to hooking a fish, trolling away from shore while fighting it, and trying to unhook it and throw it in the cooler before being blown on the bank. It's so easy now its almost unfair...almost.

Fished 6-11 this morning. The first 4 places I tried I got 5 fish in 3 hours. Last spot I landed in the mother load. Caught one on consecutive casts numerous times and didn't move 40 feet. Probably caught 60 or 70 in 2 hours. I saw them come up and bust the surface schooling a few times. They were still biting when I left. I kept 25 nice jumbos. Caught on a 3" swim bait (any color worked) and a 1/6oz chart rooster tail. All were caught shallow 3-20 feet from the bank. I'll try again next week and hopefully this heat wave is over.

Awesome report Bluesfan! Sounds like you have them dialed in. Were you on the north or south end of the lake? 25 Jumbos is a great dayCarlyle. I fished Rend last Friday. Caught 25 Crappie, but most small.

Fished both, caught north end. Tried a place I usually don't fish. Boat traffic was fairly heavy for a weekday. I found a stretch that was wind blown, had a bunch of snowy egrets on the bank, and no one was fishing. Probably like the blind squirrel finding the occasional nut more than any true skill!!! Haha. This rain they are forecasting ought to mess things up real good. Might have to search south depending on how muddy the north gets. My experience with the whites has been I hardly ever catch them in the same place 2 trips in a row. I'm slowly starting to learn to just hop around until I find some rather than commit too long to where they were last time.

I agree 100% with that approach. Keeping a few targets in mind and keep moving until found that day. Finding those jumps never hurtCarlyle. The weather has my weekend plans upside down. The Ranger might stay dry this weekend unfortunately. I was wanting to hit Kinkaid for some Crappie, been doing pretty decent down there. I don’t think the weather is going to allow for that.

No extra charge for the pic of my sexy foot!
Graphed alot of fish in 15-20', couldn't convince them though.

Slow days like the past couple, really make me question spending all that money on the graphs.
    Drinkin coffee, missin fish.

Rode my motorcycle around the ramps yesterday. Everyone I talked to caught squat. Water was up but they were dropping the lake. Took the boat this morning. Didn't expect much...and didn't get much. Fished 4 hours and caught 3 small whites and a 13.5" largemouth. Water north was really muddy, south end looked a lot better. Problem I think was the shad were scattered and not on the banks like they were. I tried a lot of different spots, tried following the birds, tried some hump, tried some wind blown banks I've never fished, rubbed my magic lamp, clicked my heels 3 times, prayed......lol what a difference a week makes. Caught at least 80 last Wednesday. Hopefully the weather stays stable and I'll try again next week. It sure was a beautiful sunrise and morning. And it still beats the hell out of working!!!
