ChadR, I would look at the powerplant lakes. Sangcris, Clinton, Newton, Coffeen, Egypt, Kinkaid. I haven't been by Shelbyville lately to offer any info. Been on vacation and working lots of overtime at work.
Any open water in Illinois to put a boat in?

If you go please be careful with the ice on the boat ramps. A friend of mine fell while duck hunting on the ramp ice and is having surgery to put in plates in his leg after he slipped and fell. Broke his leg and pulled all kinds of tendons. Just a heads up.
I know Sangchris lake is putting out steam and so is Coffeen. Good luck and stay safe.
Yeah the docks on Sangchris get damp from the steam and then it freezes and they get really slick. I was a little too pumped to get on the water a few years ago and fell and slid down the dock on my back lol
Fished a power plant lake today that was mentioned above and did very well. Was the only goofy fisherman on the lake. Fish are biting if you can stand the temps. Power plants can definitely offer some great winter fishing
