Yep, I've fished Coffeen a lot for bass and crappie but haven't been for quite a while. With the last few mild winters and no ice, I stay at Shelbyville and Decatur with 5-10 trips to sangchris with a buddy in February mainly for something different.

We go to Sanibel Island for 2-3 weeks. We have weeks 3 and 4 at the Sanibel Beach Club. The wife and I have both recently retired and she loves the beach. We've been married 43 years and she has never once complained about my fishing addiction. She gets her beach and I can drive north 1 1/2 hour where a buddy of mine winters and bass fish. It's a nice break from the cold. Life is good.

Ice fished today it was slow. A pond in plainfiled. Friend got a crappie on kalins scrub. They all got some bass I only got a small gill. Had some equipment issues. Ice fishing gear has been neglected last few years. A vexilar Flasher is a must.

My ice gear has been on a shelf in the garage for three years or so. Heck, I have an ice auger that is brand new and never been used, should be about 5 years old now. I bet I have about an inch of sawdust on top of everything in the ice sled. I need to pull it down this weekend, re-spool the reels, clean everything up, and get it ready. We should have plenty of ice this week?

How thick was the ice in Plainfield?
