All I use is hi-viz yellow 15/4 power pro. I have zero complaints about catching fish. I used to fish extremely clear water with no disadvantage. However, some claim it most certainly affects the catch rate.
I have become a very big fan of braid line, able to retrieve 95% of snags by steady pull on line, (with a piece of doll rod) jig heads usually straighten then bend back with pliers. I have found that the palomar knot works best with the braid, other knots will slip. Last time out I re-spooled one pole with some Hi Vis yellow 20 # power pro only caught one fish on that pole do you think the line color has an impact on the fish? The other poles I had with have 20# power pro in moss green color, I do have 8# mono on my 12 ft dipping pole and am thinking of switching it over to 10 # braid again to improve retrieval of snags. The heavy braid does not feed well thru the very small foam floats I use on the dipping pole. Any thoughts?

i use yellow 5lb power pro for vertical jigging
I use Power Pro braid. In 15lband love the stuff. Dark color. Is. All. I. Use and will use.

I fish mostly Southern Illinois.I mostly cast to fish using jigs.I will fish shallow if I can catch anything there. I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that using that technique you will catch more fish with a mono leader. I usually have three or four poles on the deck rigged with different jigs. I have one rod with power pro and a 2 to 3 ft leader, the rest have 6 lb green mono. When I get into the fish I will experiment to see what happens. I tried tieing the power pro directly to the line but had much lower strike rate. However,I did find that 8lb had very little difference than the 6lb as a leader in catch rate. That combo allows you to straighten hooks that are hung pretty good too.
On occasion I will catch schooling feeding fish on a school of shad. There may be bass, crappie ,bluegill, and maybe even other fish all feeding. If the bite last long enough I will catch over a hundred fish a lot of times in a few hours. When I am getting bit on nearly every cast I will stop and switch to another lure or line or the way its rigged to see if it slows or stops the bite. The results are...leader matters on braid....lure color matters....lure type and profile matters....head type or color can matter.....if your using a spinner head the spinner better be spinning....crappie nibbles matter....and even some other stuff. This also applies to some degree when bed fishing in the spring. And it does not seem that one fish species cares more than the other that much. When you have the right thing it fools them all.If some things off it won't catch any of them(or at least much fewer)
I do fish long pole dippin and bobber fish and deep fish etc. on occasion and I do not think it is as critical then....but it still matters to some degree depending on the water clarity and actual depth etc.
I use 10lb Berkeley nanofil in hi vis chartreuse as well as 10lb power pro hi vis yeller. Catch a good few fish using them. I do believe a mono leader helps in certain circumstances.
I found the yellow line not to work when gills are bedding. Dont seem to matter for crappie.

do you have problems with the 10lb hi vis nanofil breaking off? My buddy uses the lower strength nanofil and breaks off too much for me. Didn't know they made it in 10# which I would be willing to try. Where can you get this? I have been using 10# Berkley Fireline Crystal for a while on a one of my rods and really like it.
