Default Shelbyville South end Friday 11/15

Similar report as my Thursday report, BUT(read below too)........we had slightly less wind, overcast skies, and MUCH better success with the white colors and chartreuse (when prior days the darker colors were much better producers for us). Strangely enough, my buddy in the back of the boat was throwing similar chartreuse colors as myself and other buddy in the boat; BUT.......he was catching more with a chartreuse head; while the other 2 of us had bare lead colored head jigs. Not sure if that typically could make a difference, but my buddy throwing that chartreuse head grub was putting on a clinic in the back of boat!:-)

After our shallow water spot (15 feet of water) seemed to stop producing a bit. We went in search of new spots to hit. And idled through a bunch of standing timber in 35-40 feet of water. And we found some submerged standing timber that was absolutely STACKED with fish. The graph was clouded with fish, all holding in the 15-20 foot range. Problem was we were in the wind, and it was tough to hold on the spot. But when we would drop down to them and sssssllllowwwllllyyy vertically jig it in their face, we pulled some very nice crappie out. Sadly..... It was getting close to when we had to leave, so we had to get going and leave them alone.

Also, these deeper fish were kinda tricky to get down to with lighter jig heads. And 1/8 ounce was the lightest we had. I'd recommend going a bit heavier to get it down quicker; and hang it in front of their face.

We didn't quite catch a limit; but still had a good time.:-)
    -
Water temps were steady all day at 51'ish.(give or take a few tents here/there)

If anyone knows how to post pix from an iPhone (without sending the pix to an image hosting site......otherwise, I'll just post them in a day or so), I'll be happy to take screen shots of my electronics and share the exact trees we found. There was actually a few in a 20 foot radius that were holding a lot of fish)

heck, the gps coordinates are on the bottom of the screen there too. Let me know if anyone makes it over and are able to catch 'em out of there. (only one of the trees i graphed with the waypoints had just it's tip visible about 6" under the water) the others were not visible, and they were all before you entered the visible standing timber. We kept calling it 'The Shelbyville Triangle', cause there were 3 visible treetops just sticking out of the water right by where we were fishing; in the form of about a 20 foot wide triangle as a point of reference (but no fish on the visible ones), we referred to those as........'The Shelbyville Triangle'...........where crappie see their friends mysteriously..............dissappear!

Hey thanks goose.:-)......I don't mind sharing anything we did to help others out. I'm new to the boards here; but I've been on other message boards for years, where others have shared info that really helped me out quite a bit.:-)

Motomania, I have fished that area before but more so back into the cove and not that far close to the main lake but do know exactly where you're at. What really helps out is it is so close to the river channel. With the wind and all, it would almost be impossible to stay in the right spot to fish it.
Lets go soak a line. Pat

Good point about being close to the river channel; i was thinking that may have helped load up that spot. (but im a crappie rookie.....so I wasn't certain) Funny you mention going further back in that cove; we talked about it; but the day was running short for us, so we hung out and fished what we stumbled on first.......And you're not joking when you mention trying to hold that spot in the wind! It was tough.......tough.:-(
