Default Waterfowl Central Zone opens 10/30!

So be safe and courteous to one another. Give them their 200 yard buffer.

    Good luck all.

Yeah, they were blasting out of the blind right next to my house this morning. They are probably closer than 200 yards to my house but they are fellow hunters that are nice guys. I won't sit in a duck or deer blind but I will be harvesting rabbits in front of my beagles next week and have been shooting some squirrels over my squirrel dogs. I hope to sell some fur my coon dogs tree.

    Default waterfoul season

I have just this year started to fish Shelbyville , I do not hunt waterfoul . Where would be places to look out for hunters ? I think some good crappie fishing is very near and plan on being out on the water and do not want to make any hunters mad so I would appriciate any info on this subject .

I do not waterfoul hunt either but I like to think I could give them a big area to hunt I have the whole lake they choose that spot and was there 3 or 4 am in the morning also this is opening day they wait all year for this. I just stay away. There was many out around Wolf creek this morning. Caught many small crappie nothing of any size once again.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I have never fished Shelbyville during duck and goose season but I believe there are areas closed to fishing. As for the duck hunters on my lake, I like to think they are guarding my honeyholes. LOL. I am sure none of them are being fished, at least in the mornings. LOL.

If you are fishing Shelbyville, you may hear my beagles or my squirrel dogs from time to time. And, you can hear my squirrel dogs at Rend from time to time.

After the opener I am not sure what to tell you but there three times the number of hunters or more than I ever would have expected. And for the most part all the boats gave us a 200 yard birth when passing by and no one fished near us. As big as Shelbyville is I would have to say that there are plenty of places to fish and am headed there in a little while to do the same. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment but after all I did go to bed yesterday at 3:15 PM and didn't get out of bed until 8:15 this morning...

Fishermen cant be north of strickland boat launch til after 1PM. Other places that are common for hunters will be anywhere around willborn and north. Also, the corps of engineers has lifted the restriction on waterfowl hunting within 200 yds. of a recreation area. Hunters have to be at least 100 yds. from a public boat launch, the dam area is still off limits, they have to stay out of coves with (no boat) buoys, and must maintain at least one ft of water between their boat and the bank. There is a 200 yd distance to be maintained by fisherman away from hunters, and a local biologist told me they are strictly enforcing that this year. So, basically if everyone is just courteous to whoever was in an area first, there should be no issues, or no tickets issued. I am both a fisherman and avid waterfowler, so I respect both groups rights and hope we all have a safe fall and winter. Also, to get a spot to duck hunt opening morning we had to be there at 8pm the night b4, and there was probably at least 20 others already out.
