Havent posted in a really long time. Figured I would break the ice with some pictures of our recent trip to Rainy Lake in Fort Frances, Ontario. We make an annual trip up there to fish for smallmouth bass. Its not like bass fishing around here where 10 fish is a great day! Up there 50 fish is a average day and 80-100+ fish days are very reachable. An absolute blast. We try to catch the smallies in pre spawn, but like any other vacation when pbooking the trip in feb you cant really predict the weather for end of may! They had a very very warm spring up there mixed with the earliest ice out in lake history and made for some interesting fishing. The smallies had already spawned or were getting ready to end. Lots were out roaming not wanting to eat, just recovering, and others were on the beds just blowing up on top water but not really wanting to eat it. We still caught lots of fish each day but we have been very spolied with recent trips so this trip seemed to be a bit down! However, the walleye bite up there this year was as good as we have ever seen it! They are welcome bonuses since we dont even fish for them really and the lake isnt known for big walleye numbers like other lakes up there. We caught 5-20 walleyes a day, I know this doesnt seem like a lot but when your throwing stick baits and soft plastics for bass and catching walleyes, its nice! The eyes up there are gorgeous! Very very golden and our average fish was probably 4 or 5 pounds. Our two biggest were both between 28-29 inches. Of course you cant forget about the fun but pesky northerns up there that are a hoot to catch but when they break off your 8 dollar xrap without even feeling the fish, makes ya mad! Had several cool encounters with a eagle as well, ill try to add a picture but doesnt really show justice. We threw out a dead perch not 15 yards from the boat, from nowhere the eagle showed up, made several swoops to get online with the fish, and soared down to snatch the fish out of water without hesistation!!

HEre are a few pictures of the trip...

Looks like it was a great trip! I've been to Rainy on the U.S. side a couple of times and it is an amazing fishery. A good friend of mine leaves for there Saturday, I'll have to tell him about your post.

Very cool pic of the Eagle getting some Grocerys.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
