    Smile deep ledge fishing

I like to use a tube jig under a cork . Sometimes I put it from 2 to 6 feet deep . I have seen post where the fish are being caught in 10 to 20 feet of water on deep ledges . How do you fish this method ? Do you just throw it out and retreive it at a certain depth or do you use a slip bobber set at a certain depth ? I don't want to know any secret locations but just a general approach to how this type of fishing is done . Thanks for any information .

Patjay--Right now is a prime time for deep ledge fishing..the fish are wanting to transition from deep water up to spawn..they will sit on these ledges just waiting for that water temperature to rise..day by day they move up/down these ledges depending on cold fronts or warming trends...if you can find structure in 15-20 fow right now, FISH IT! they will gradually make their way to the banks as the water temp rises...get yourself some 1/4 or 1/8 jigs and just vertical jig or troll them on the ledges till you find structure...no slip bobber or cork needed until they get into the 5-10 foot range..

The main thing about fishing deep is weight!! Do not be afraid to ad a splitshot above your jig to get down to the depth you need and still have the ability to feel what you are doing. Another setup I like to use for fishing deep water is a bottom bouncer with a 3/8 to 1/2 oz weight under it. Another important thing is really trust your electronics. If you are showing fish on a deep ledge FISH IT!

We slow trolled jigs in 15fow the other day and the fish we caught were big but the wind didn't let us stay on them. Any jig with blue worked.
