    Default Best trip so far

I went to a pond I had never fished before this morning. Small 75 acre pond. Got lucky and was on the fish right away. Caught around 20 fish and brought these ones home for a meal. Northland Tackle Forage Minnow spoon with a few spikes on it was the ticket this morning. I will definitely be going back there again.Name: 20200104_101721.jpg

Nice one! And a nice looking pile of fillets, too. Glad you had a good day. Still waiting on better ice here. Some CT guys are fishing from what I'm reading but it's too iffy around here for me to feel safe. Looks like mid to late next week judging by the forecast. 42 with light rain and drizzle here today and mid 40's yesterday. Maybe next weekend? Fingers crossed!

I just realized that I duplicated the jig picture and didn't get the pic of the total catch on here. Here is another one. I don't know how to edit a post here.Name: 20200104_102036.jpg

Wow, that middle one is a monster....kinda dwarfs the others.

    Are the others white perch?

Yes, White Perch. That biggest Crappie by far dwarfed the rest. It was also the hardest fighter I have caught in a long time , maybe ever. It actually came unhooked in the hole but it was so big in an 8 inch hole that it couldn't get turned to swim away. I was able to swipe it out onto the ice with my hand Grizzly Bear style.

Nice catch !! We had three inches ice in early December but it's gone now. Long term forecast not looking good in Centl. IL

White Perch taste great. Similar to Crappie. A little flakier.
