    Default Waiting for ice

Anybody hanging out in this section of Crappie.com? I have been checking in but nothing has been posted. My lakes close to me which have Crappie in them are not iced up yet. There is a local pond with safe ice and some tiny White Perch which I may go fish soon just to feel a tug on my line. How are the ice conditions and fishing in your area?

FF, like you, I keep checking it to see if anyone else is posting. Some of the small ponds here are capped but not safe while the larger lakes are wide open; seems as though the wind never stops to let them cap over. Temps here on Monday and Tuesday are expected to be near 50 with steady rain so that won't help. After that clears out, temp is supposed to drop for a few days and then go back up in to the 40's for a couple of days. Not a real good outlook for making ice, is it?

Good to see that others are checking in. I went out today to check my places that I crappie fish and to my surprise they were all completely iced over. 4 to 6 inches near shore but within 50 yards from shore you could put your chisel through with one whack.

6poundtest- your weather forecast sounds almost exactly like my local forecast coming up. I think here the difference would be the overnight temps after the warm up will actually add to the ice thickness.

Hopefully if it cools back down I will be out next weekend to fish.

I'm still waiting for ice here in Pa. This weather is not conducive for making ice. I sure hope it gets here soon.

Good luck, let us know how you make out. I had to finish up some errands today before the big day and have other plans for tomorrow or else I'd be out there, too.
